The decorated piece represents a chaotic state that one is in when they are overwhelmed by the tasks and expectations that come with their aspirations, which is how I felt very often.

The experimental process of this piece symbolizes the process of working towards our dreams, in that things won't always go as planned, and we need to keep trying. In addition, the delicate material resembles the nature of dreams. They are fragile and constantly affected by outside factors. So I asked the viewers to touch and break it to symbolize that.

The clear hanging piece with a little bit of glued-on materials represents a peaceful state of mind when one is calm while working consistently towards their goal.

Romanticize
Medium: Mixed Media Installation
Year: 2022
Size: 6.5x4.5ft

Paper mache sculptures painted with acrylic. Fabrics stitched with yarn. Writings written with chalk pastel. Flowers crafts with fabrics, tissue paper, wire.
This installation is inspired by my mother’s habit of ordering fresh flowers every week. She says that coming home to bouquets of flowers always makes her day, and reminds her of the little things that make life good. My mother is the one who taught me to stay positive no matter what I’m going through in life. She taught me to create my own happiness and put out an effort to make life beautiful. The blue sculptures of daily life objects include a laptop, toothbrush, mug, pen, clothes hanger, and Chinese cooking vinegar and chili bottles. They symbolize how tedious and mellow the everyday life can be. Sometimes we feel numbed by our to-do-lists that seem to go on forever. However, if one tries to move the negativity out of the way, there is tons to be joyful about, which is represented by the fabric and hand crafted flowers.

No, Don't Be Just Like Them
Medium: Mixed Media Installation

Year: 2022
Size: Cardboard Painting 25x40

People tend to follow trends and copy what others are doing. This is especially true when it comes to fashion choices. Unfortunately, the trendy clothing styles are not suitable for most, and uncomfortable for many, whether due to body types or the appropriation of the designs. I personally struggled with it. I could never look as good as the influencers in trendy clothes. In the cardboard painting in the middle, two girls with different body types are forcing themselves into similar tops. Neither of them fit perfectly. The rich textures and the sense of distortion, unclearness of the painting show the feeling of frustration.
By burning the painting as an installation, I hope to convey that the common phenomenon of developing body image issues and losing confidence over trendy clothing should stop, and the hope that everyone can realize the importance of developing their own unique style
